Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)

We are committed to the well-being of our students, staff, and families to create a safe and healthy learning environment.

Meet the Counselor

My name is Stephanie Haren (Ms. Stephanie) and I am honored to be returning as the full time Counselor for Burton Valley Elementary. I was born in NYC, and grew up in Southern California. Since then I have lived in Oakland, Berkeley, Astoria, NY and San Francisco. Since 2015, I have happily called Lafayette my home, where I live with my kids, Mateo & Paloma, and our dog, Oso. I have a passion for wellness, mental health and education and am energized each day by the children of BVE!

These are Tools that reside inside us and help us develop strong social and emotional skills and meaningful, satisfying relationships. Bobcats learn about the 12 Tools through wonderful stories and literature, fun projects, role-plays and class discussions.
