What are the Classroom Leadership Roles?
CLASSROOM COORDINATOR
Organizes the classroom volunteers, and acts as a liaison between the PTA, teacher and parents. Send emails to your class on behalf of the PTA + LPIE (you will be given detailed instructions on when and how to do this). If necessary, help recruit volunteers for any vacant classroom volunteer roles.
1 PER CLASSROOM
Diversity & Inclusion REPRESENTATIVE
Acts as a liaison between the classroom and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Committee (DEIB). Responsibilities include: Attend DEIB Committee meetings when possible, Communicate DEIB events/volunteer opportunities to classroom parents, volunteer/support DEIB School events like Cultural Night and Ruby Bridges Walk To School Day.
2 PER GRADE
Special Events Coordinators
Helps to coordinate parent volunteers and supplies needed for class parties as directed by the teacher (mainly Halloween and Valentine’s Day). Please plan to volunteer on campus on these days and solicit help from other classroom parents if needed. Along with other Special Events Coordinators in your grade, help organize 1-2 grade level parent get togethers. No money will be spent on your end, you just need to help pick a venue and send out the invite. More guidance and instruction will be sent later in the year.
2 PER CLASSROOM
LPIE ART + SCIENCE VOLUNTEER
Serves as the liaison between your class and the LPIE Art and Science Fair Chairs. For Art, you will need to help create art folders for each student at the beginning of the year, help the Art Teachers and students select a piece of art that will be displayed at the Art Fair (requires one day in the classroom late April) and help with set-up and take down of the LPIE Art Fair in May. For Science, you will need to help fill one Science Fair volunteer shift in March.

Teacher Appreciation Coordinator
Collect and manage class funds for teacher and aide gifts for Winter Holidays and End-of-Year gifts which you are responsible for purchasing and delivering. In May, you will need to help coordinate Teacher Appreciation Week activities which will include organizing and soliciting assistance from parents for daily activities. You will get direction on this from the PTA when we get closer.
2 PER CLASSROOM
WALK-A-THON REP
Coordinate classroom activities for the Walk-A-Thon, as directed by Walk-A-Thon Chairs. You will need to be able to volunteer on the day of the Walk-A-Thon: Count laps and cheer on the class as well as remind parents of the date and time the class is walking and ensure they send their student with sunscreen and water.
