The Run is the city’s most popular “family affair," involving kids, parents, grandparents, and hundreds of serious runners from throughout the Bay Area. Participants compete in 10k or 5k certified runs and a 2 mile run/walk for fun through downtown Lafayette, around the reservoir (10k only) and back. Sprinters, walkers, the “stroller brigade” and many of Lafayette’s top four-legged residents share the streets on that festive Sunday morning. The live music and Healthy Lifestyles Fair add to the fun. Gather a big group of your best BVE friends and SIGN UP to run or walk together!
Lafayette Res Run for Education: Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Res Run?
This annual fitness event is the city’s most popular “family affair”, bringing the community and families together. Students, parents, grandparents, kids in strollers, pets and hundreds of serious runners from around the Bay participate in a certified 10K or 5K, and a 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk through downtown Lafayette with all proceeds going directly to our schools, and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce. Live music and a healthy lifestyle fair make for a festive Sunday morning.
The 27th Annual Lafayette Res Run for Education will be held on Sunday, October 20.
Why should I sign up?
10% of every registration fee goes DIRECTLY to the school you designate.
There is a friendly competition among the schools to see who can get the most entrants. The school with the most entrants by midnight on September 30 will receive a $500 check. An additional $500 check will be given to the school with the most entrants overall.
In addition, the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce divides all profits evenly among the participating schools. Again, this check goes DIRECTLY to BVE.
Last year, BVE was the district champions. Let’s see if we can do it again!
I’m not a runner. I don’t run. I never run. Do I have to run?
NOPE! There is NO requirement to run. Sign up for the 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk where you can walk, skip, juggle, push your little ones in the stroller or even walk with your dog. It’s all for fun!
What if I’m out-of-town that weekend, or have other plans that day?
Register as a ghost runner. An acceptable practice among schools is to register your family to run even if you don’t plan to be there. BVE still earns money from each entrants. Don’t forget our chance at those $500 checks!
Seriously, I don’t like to run. What else can I do to help?
Sign up to volunteer. BVE also earns money for dedicating volunteers to the event. It’s a great opportunity to show school spirit and support our runners. Volunteer opportunities include passing out race packets on Saturday, October 19, and manning BVE’s own water station on race day. Sign up here:https://www.signupgenius.com/
BVE is the biggest school. Why do you need me? Aren’t we always in the lead in number of entrants?
Ahh ... no. Despite ultimately becoming district champions last year, we lost the early bird contest (and, a $500 check to Happy Valley). The year prior, we were only middle of the pack among the schools. So, yah, we need you!!
