The Burton Valley PTA leadership includes dedicated members of our community who generously share their skills and time in support of our teachers, students and Bobcat families. Be a part of a dynamic team that helps promote diversity, community building, enriching programs, events & fundraisers.

We have several open executive board positions for the 2021-2022 school year, all listed below. You can indicate your interest for open positions at the bottom of the page. We would love for you to join our team!

President

• Oversee and coordinates the work of an executive board to run the BVE PTA effectively
• Preside at PTA board and association meetings
• Serve as the official contact, communicator and representative of the BVE PTA
• Partner & collaborate closely with Principal and District to ensure the needs of the community are being met
• Partner closely with Diversity, Equity & Inclusion lead to ensure all PTA programs are aligned with DEI goals
• Designated as an authorized signer for PTA checks, contracts and authorizations for payment
• Serve as ex-officio member of all committees except the nominating committee
• Work with other PTA leaders to connect families, school and community to support student success

 

Executive Vice President

• Work as the primary aide to the president
• Help lead the BVE PTA towards specific goals consistent with PTA purposes and policies
• Perform president’s duties in his or her absence
• Manage all communications activities (weekly Broadcast newsletter & PTA website)


Vice President – Wellness & Education

• Ensure a comprehensive school health program that integrates activities designed to promote physical, emotional, social and educational development of our Bobcats
• Manage all programs related to Wellness (for example: ResRun, Walk to School Day, Kindness Week)
• Identify and gather information important to education and the community
• Inform and educate the school community through activities and programs
• Manage academic, parent education and family support programs (for example: Reflections, Odyssey of the Mind, Read Across America)
• Act as ex officio member and liaison for all committees under his/her supervision
• Reports on all activities under his/her supervision

 

Vice President – Social

• Manage and oversee all social events at Burton Valley to promote community building (for example: Bobcat Day, Fall Family Festival, Parent Party)
• Act as ex officio member and liaison for all committees under his/her supervision
• Reports on all activities under his/her supervision

 

Treasurer

• Maintain permanent records to track unit funds and financial transactions
• Chair budget committee and prepares annual budget for adoption by the association
• Pay all PTA bills as authorized by board or association
• Issue checks and oversees the collection of all funds
• Prepare reports for every board and association meeting and an annual financial report
• Ensure taxes and reports required by PTA bylaws, insurance or federal and state governments are completed and submitted by the due dates



Vice President - Volunteers & Historian

• Work with the PTA president, principal and teachers to coordinate volunteer assignments to support student success
• Oversee volunteer recruitment & training
• Manage philanthropic, appreciation and other committees (for example: Classroom Coordinators, Teacher Appreciation leads)
• Capture, assemble and preserve record of activities and achievements of the BVE PTA
• Collect/track volunteer hours
• Complete and submit the PTA Unit-Annual Historian Report to council/district PTA
• Act as ex officio member and liaison for all committees under his/her supervision
• Report on all activities under his/her supervision, including Annual Volunteer Report Form

 

Vice President – School Improvement

• Manage all activities concerning improvement of Burton Valley School site working closely with school principal
• Keep BVE up to date with emergency prep inventory
• Acts as ex officio member and liaison for all committees under his/her supervision
• Report on all activities under his/her supervision


Auditor

• Audit the books and financial records of a PTA to determine their accuracy
• Present written reports on audits to the board and the association for adoption
• Forward copies of adopted audits to council/district PTA as indicated in unit bylaws
